Daily Prayer Request- October 15

Even though teams only partner with Engadi Ministries for scheduled weeks during the year, ministry and construction are taking place year round. Pray for God to provide needed funds to continue construction on the Engadi Ranch as well as ministry in Paraíso through the end of the year. If you would like to make a year-end tax deductible donation, you can do so through the Donate link on our website.

Daily Prayer Request- October 14

Engadi Ministries relies on many churches to support the work it does in Guatemala. Pray the current relationships with churches will continue to grow, and also that God would provide more churches to become involved in the work He is doing in Guatemala. If your church is interested in possible partnering with Engadi Ministries, contact us at hello@engadiministries.org.

Daily Prayer Request- October 13

God has placed God-sized plans on the heart of Engadi Ministries for the 2016 year. We plan on conducting a scholarship program for more children, continuing the Derek Program for boys that was initiated in 2015, opening the doors of our first boys’ home, hosting more teams, among many other things. Pray that God provides all that we need to accomplish these goals in the upcoming year. If you would like to give to these goals, you can do so by clicking the Donate link on our website.

Daily Prayer Request- October 12

Engadi Ministries’ board members help determine the operating budget and goals for the next year of ministry. Pray that the budget set for the ministry would continue to be one that honors God and follows His will for the ministry. Pray that God provides the necessary funds to fulfill the budget set for the 2016 year. If you would like to make a year-end tax deductible donation, you can do so by clicking the Donate link on our website.

Daily Prayer Request- October 11

A large part of the operating budget of Engadi Ministries comes from short-term teams that partner with Engadi Ministries each year. Pray for new teams and churches to partner with Engadi Ministries in 2016. Pray that these teams are able to have an impact in Paraíso, and are also impacted themselves through working in Guatemala.

Weekly Prayer Topic- The Fourth Quarter

While the main focus of Engadi Ministries is to minister to underprivileged and at-risk boys helping them become Mighty Men of God, it is impossible to do so without the financial support of Engadi Ministries’ many donors. The ministry and each of its staff members function completely off the donations of churches and individuals who believe in its mission and ministry to the poor in Guatemala. Join us this week as we pray for the budgetary needs of the ministry so that it can properly function in Guatemala.

Daily Prayer Request- October 10

Today, the team for Shearer Hills will depart Guatemala to travel home to Texas. Pray for safe travels for the team. Pray that the people they met and served will leave a lasting impression on their hearts. Pray that they will not quickly forget what God has shown each of them this week.

201510 Shearer Hills

Thank You, Shearer Hills

The team from Shearer Hills did awesome work on the road to Engadi Ranch. This team of seven far surpassed the amount of road work we expected for them to accomplish. There are now very few sections left that need to be fixed, and we are hoping to start work on the property of Engadi Ranch early next year. Thank you Shearer Hills Baptist Church for your hard work and helping us draw very near to our goal. Here are some final photos of their work this week.

Another death in Zone 18

Rosenda Lemus and her mother, Berta de Lemus, were shot and killed near the elementary school in the Paradise neighborhood. Berta is Joel Lemus’s mother, too. Rosenda and Berta lived on the edge of the Ratonera (Literally “the Rats’ Nest”) neighborhood across from the soccer stadium we built. Rosenda leaves behind three teenage girls, Katherine 16, Valery 14, and Genesis 12 Nunfio. The girls were all in the Karate class at some point. (Joel daughter, Astrid is also part of karate class.) The girls’ father abandoned the family years ago and has never returned.
A young boy of about 10 years of age is the one that fired the shots. He did it as an initiation to get into the gang. The two women were totally unaware of the attack and didn’t provoke it in anyway.
Pray for the family through this tragic loss.
Pray for us as we minister to the family.
Pray for wisdom in finding a safe and adequate solution to help the girls for the future.
Pray for the girls’ safety and that they won’t fall victims to the gangs.
Please share this with those in your circle of friends that may know the families.
Coveting your prayers,
Nathan and Claudia
